Il s'agit donc de réfléchir à son intégration dans l'enseignement des Arts visuels à l'école. L'utilisation d'outils numériques de création modifierait-elle et dans quel sens les performances des élèves de 9-10 ans par rapport à l'usage de techniques traditionnelles ? Le graphisme des enfants a constitué l'objet de nombreuses recherches mais sans jamais s'interroger sur l'influence possible de l'ergonomie de l'outil de production des dessins sur la production elle-même. Ainsi, en comparant les dessins réalisés avec un matériel traditionnel puis en utilisant les outils numériques de création nous montrons que ces derniers permettent de reproduire plus fidèlement un modèle, mais que dessiner avec les outils habituels favorise une meilleure mémorisation. A model of protein synthesis from the Web-based learning environment Cell World was studied by 59 French students. Students had to manipulate certain virtual molecules so that they would react as a biological phenomenon. Questions on a worksheet investigated student understanding of the ontological categories of objects and processes under the influence of the manipulable and non-manipulable model components. The results of the study suggest a trend wherein the category of processes was less understood than those of objects. However, the outcome also demonstrates that manipulation of a virtual environment can help students to understand the category of processes, rather than merely the properties of objects.
