We identify them as originating from transitions between the fine-structure components of the metastable 3s3p P-3(0,1,2) level of Mg. We have calculated the cross sections for Raman and Rayleigh scattering from the metastable state. Comparison of the expected ratio of the satellites to the Rayleigh peak indicates the changing population fraction of the metastable states in the plume. %Z 376XF Times Cited:1 Cited References Count:21 %U &lt;Go to ISI&gt;://000261215600186 %+ Delserieys, A Queens Univ Belfast, Sch Math &amp; Phys, Belfast BT7 1NN, Antrim, North Ireland Queens Univ Belfast, Sch Math &amp; Phys, Belfast BT7 1NN, Antrim, North Ireland Queens Univ Belfast, Sch Math &amp; Phys, Belfast BT7 1NN, Antrim, North Ireland %G English</style>
<notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Artn 055404, Doi 10.1103/Physreva.78.055404 %M ISI:000261215600186</style></notes><label><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">ACL</style></label></record></records></xml>
